I met a guy tonight that took me back about 7 or 8 months, to a time of severe pain and uncertainty. He’s reeling from a separation with his wife and probably a pending divorce. He’s dealing with the shame of the things he’s done, the pain of bad choices. The look in his eyes is one of brokenness, humility, and an extreme desire to change.
This is where 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 comes to play. God allows us to go through difficulty, pain, and loss so that He can comfort (which He is the only One that can give us comfort) and then in turn comfort others. To stand there tonight and be able to honestly tell him that I know how he feels I think was huge. The way his eyes sparked with hope and courage was amazing. It’s almost as if there’s a bond between us now, even though we just met for the first time.
What comfort have you received from the Lord that needs to be given to others? Let us always remember to pay it forward so that the comfort of the Lord may be given to those who need it.
